[Ben rummages through Sawyer's old stash at the beach camp. He finds a book and a couple of pornographic magazines]
Ben: The stuff people bring on their travels...
[He continues to look and finds a bottle of water carrying the Oceanic Logo on its label. Frank Lapidus approaches]
Ben: Oceanic! You know I remember that plane breaking apart as if it were yesterday.
Frank: You're sounding a little nostalgic there.
Ben: Maybe I am.
Frank: You know I was supposed to be flying it? Oceanic 815?
[Ben looks at Frank shocked by the news]
Ben: And why didn't you?
Frank: I overslept. [Pause] You know I keep thinking about how different my life would have been if I was on the plane.
Ben: How different would it have been? The island still got you in the end, didn't it?

[Ben, Miles, and Richard are on their way to The Barracks]
Miles: You sure this is a shortcut?
Ben: I lived in these houses a long time, Miles. I think I can remember how to get there.
Miles: Yeah well, I lived in these houses thirty years before you did; otherwise known as last week. And I have no idea where the hell we are.
Ben: Guess it's a good thing you're following me.

[Claire enters her shelter, collects a knife, and checks on her fake baby. Kate enters the hut]
Kate: Is this where you lived?
Claire: Yeah.
[Kate looks at the fake baby in horror.]
Kate: What is that?
Claire: [Sadly] It's all I had...

[Having been captured Sawyer is lead onto Widmore's submarine and into a small room where Charles sits at a desk working on a document]
Charles Widmore: Hello, Mr. Ford. My name is Charles Widmore.
[Widmore offers his hand to Sawyer but Sawyer does not shake it]
Charles Widmore: I'm guessing you know who I am?
Sawyer: Of course I do. You're the fella that sent a freighter to the island loaded with guys to kill us all.
[There is a brief pause and a smirk appears on Widmore's face]
Charles Widmore: It's sad, really... how little you actually know.
Sawyer: Well...I know you murdered all them people out there and dropped 'em in a ditch.
Charles Widmore: We didn't murder those people. But I don't expect you to believe that.
Sawyer: Good, I don't.
Charles Widmore: So, why don't you tell me what brought you over to this island.
Sawyer: John Locke sent me.
Charles Widmore: John Locke's dead!
Sawyer: I think we both know the guy I'm talking about's not really Locke. So here's the deal, Chief... I'll go back over there and tell him the coast is clear, that I didn't find anybody. Then I'll bring the old man right to your doorstep... then you can kill him.
[Once again Widmore's face reveals a hint of a smile]
Charles Widmore: And what do you want in exchange, James?
Saywer: One: The people I come back with, people on my boat don't get touched. Not even a hair on their head. And two: You give us safe passage off the Island.
Charles Widmore: How do I know I can trust you?
Sawyer: Same way I know I can trust you. So do we have an agreement?
[Widmore nods his head and extends his arm once again for Sawyer to shake. They shake hands.]

[Hurley and Jack are lead by Richard to what they believe will be the Temple]
Jack: [To Richard] Where did you come from?
Richard: You wouldn't believe me if I told you. Temples this way.
Hurley: So dude whats the deal? Are you time traveling? 'Cause you look exactly the same as you did 30 years ago.
Richard: I'm not time traveling. This was a gift from Jacob. Only...It's not a gift at all. Its a curse.
Hurley: So what you're like a Terminator?
[Richard looks at Hurley]
Richard: No.

[Hurley has just helped Richard make peace with his long deceased wife]
Hurley: She kinda said something else. Something you have to do.
Richard: What?
Hurley: She said you have to stop The Man in Black. You have to stop him from leaving the Island. And she said that if you don't... (speaking in Spanish) ...we'll all go to hell.

[In the sideways world, Locke arrives outside of the church. He finds Ben waiting]
Locke: Hello, Benjamin.
Ben: Hello, John.
Locke: Is everyone else inside?
Ben: I believe most of them are.
[Locke starts to wheel his way toward the entrance]
Ben: I'm sorry, John. I'm sorry for what I did to you. I was angry. Selfish. I wanted everything you had.
Locke: What did I have?
Ben: You were special. And I wasn't.
Locke: Well if it helps, I forgive you, Ben.
Ben: Thank you, John. It does help.
Locke: Are you going to come in?
Ben: I'm not quite ready to leave yet. I have some things I still need to work out here.[Locke nods and begins to leave] You know, I don't think you need to be in that chair anymore.
[Locke pauses, unsure; slowly, he rises, steps out of the chair and watches as it rolls away]
Locke: Bye, Ben.[Ben nods, as Locke goes inside the church]

[Inside the Hydra Station Jin is brought to see Charles Widmore]
Charles Widmore: Mr Kwon, my deepest apologies for everything that's been done to you. My name is...
Jin: I know who you are. Why did you bring me here?
Charles Widmore: We searched the Ajira plane, discovered your wife's luggage and found this inside. I thought you might want to have it. Go ahead, turn it on.
[Widmore hands Jin a digital camera, Jin switches it on and sees images of Ji Yeon, his daughter on the display.]
Charles Widmore: Her name is Ji Yeon, she's your daughter. I understand you've never seen her before. I have a daughter too. I know what it's like to be kept apart. I understand the one thing you want is to be reunited with your wife and daughter. But it would be short lived. If that thing masquerading as John Locke ever got off this island, your wife, your daughter, my daughter, everyone we know and love, would simply cease to be. I came here to make sure that doesn't happen.
Jin: How?
Charles Widmore: Come with me. I think it's time for you to see the package.
Jin: What package?
Charles Widmore: It's not a what. It's a who.

[Jack and The Man in Black are lowering Desmond into the heart of the Island]
The Man in Black: This remind you of anything, Jack?
Jack: What?
The Man in Black: You and me, Desmond going down into a hole in the ground. If there was a button down there we could argue whether or not to push it. It'd be just like old times.
Jack: You're not John Locke. You disrespect his memory by wearing his face, but you're nothing like him. Turns out he was right about most everything. Just wish I could have told him that while he was still alive.
The Man in Black: He wasn't right about anything, Jack. And as soon as this Island drops into the ocean and you drop with it, you're going to realize that.
Jack: Well I guess we'll just have to see which one of us is right.

[Jack and The Man in Black are meeting for the first time]
Jack: You look just like him.
The Man in Black: Does it bother you?
Jack: No, what bothers me is I have no idea what the hell you are.
The Man in Black: Sure you do.
Jack: Why John Locke?
The Man in Black: Because he was stupid enough to believe he had been brought here for a reason. Because he pursued that belief until it got him killed. And because you were kind enough to bring his body back here in a nice little wooden box.
Jack: And he had to be dead before you could look like him?
The Man in Black: That's right.
Jack: And who else have you looked like?
The Man in Black: Jack, what do you really want to ask me?
Jack: Our third day here, I chased my father through the jungle, my dead father. Was that you?
The Man in Black: Yes, that was me.
Jack: Why?
The Man in Black: You needed to find water. Jack, I know this must be hard for you to understand, but all I've ever tried to do is help you.
Jack: To "help me?" To do what?
The Man in Black: Leave! But because Jacob chose you you were trapped on this Island, before you even got here. Now Jacob's dead, we don't need to be trapped here. We can get on a plane and fly away anytime we want.
Jack: If we could just get on a plane and fly away, why would you even still be here?
The Man in Black: Because it has to be all of us.
[Jack still looks uncertain]
The Man in Black: What?
Jack: John Locke was the only one of us who ever believed in this place. He did everything he could to keep us from leaving this Island.
The Man in Black: John Locke was not a believer, Jack. He was a sucker.

[Jack has entered the back of the church in the sideways world. He finds his father's coffin inside. Upon touching it the memories of his life on the Island come rushing back. He then opens the coffin and finds it is empty; he closes it disappointed]
Christian: Hey, kiddo.
Jack:[Shocked] Dad?
Christian: Hello, Jack.
Jack: ...I don't understand. You died.
Christian: Yeah, I did.
Jack: Then how are you here right now?
Christian: How are you here?
Jack:[Pauses] I died too.
Christian: [They hug as Jack becomes wracked with emotion] It's ok, it's ok, son. It's ok.
Jack: I love you, dad.
Christian: I love you too.
Jack: Are you...are you real?
Christian:[Laughs] I sure hope so. I'm real, you're real, everything that happened to you is real. The people in that church, they're real.
Jack: And everyone else, they're all dead too?
Christian: Everyone dies, Jack. Some before you, some long after you.
Jack: Are they all here now?
Christian: Well, there is no NOW here.
Jack: Where are we, dad?
Christian: This is the place that you all made together so that you could find one another. The most important part of your life was the time that you spent with these people. That's why all of you are here. Nobody does it alone, Jack. You needed all of them and they needed you.
Jack: For what?
Christian: To remember and let go.
Jack: Kate. She said we were leaving.
Christian: Not leaving, no. Moving on.
Jack: Where are we going?
Christian: Let's go find out.

[Jack's group confronts The Man in Black's group in a clearing]
The Man in Black: Well this oughta be interesting.
Kate:[Immediately grabs Sawyer's rifle and opens fire on MIB] YOU KILLED THEM!
[MIB is not phased at all, Sawyer restrains Kate]
The Man in Black: I'd save your bullets.[Confronts Jack] So it's you?
Jack: Yeah, it's me.
The Man in Black: Jacob being who he is, I was expected to be a little more surprised. You're sort of the obvious choice, don't you think?
Jack: He didn't choose me. I volunteered.
The Man in Black: I assume you're here to stop me?
Jack: I can't stop you. In fact I uh, I wanna go with you.
The Man in Black: I'm sorry Jack, I think you're a little confused about what I came here to do.
Jack: No I'm not. You're going to the far side of the bamboo forest, to the place I've sworn that I'll protect. And then you think you're going to destroy the Island.
The Man in Black: "I think?"
Jack: [Smiles]That's right, because that's not what's going to happen.
The Man in Black: And what's gonna happen, Jack?
Jack: I'm gonna kill you.
The Man in Black:[Visibly intimidated]... How are you planning to do that?
Jack: That's a surprise.
The Man in Black: Alright then, let's get on with it.

[Jacob has just subdued Richard when he tried to kill him]
Jacob: Who are you?[Holds up the dagger] And who gave you this?
Richard: Where is my wife?
Jacob: I don't know your wife. Was she on the ship?
Richard: She's dead...
Jacob: Than why are you asking me where she is? [Richard can't answer] Did you meet a man in the jungle dressed in black?
Richard: Yes!
Jacob: What did he say to you?
Richard: He said that you were the devil![Jacob seems frustrated at this]
Jacob: What else did he say?
Richard: He said that you took my wife. Where is she?
Jacob: That wasn't your wife.
Richard: Yes it was, yes it was! She is here in hell, just like me!
Jacob: You think you're in hell?
Richard: Where else would I be?
[Jacob drags Richard to the water and starts to drown him]
Jacob: You still think you're dead?! You think you're dead?! Why should I stop?!
Richard: I want to live!
Jacob:[Jacob throws Richard to the ground] That's the first sensible thing you've said. Get up, we need to talk.

[Miles approaches Ben who is digging his own grave]
Miles: Hey I thought you might want something to eat. I'm afraid all we have is banana and these little green bean things.
Ben: You know I'm not really that hungry.
Miles: Suit yourself.
[Miles starts to walk away]
Ben: Miles! You know you once asked me for 3.2 Million Dollars?
Miles: Yeah.
Ben: You still want it?
Miles: Why would I want your money when there's two people buried right over there called Nikki and Paulo who are buried with 8 Million Dollars worth of diamonds.
Ben: Miles please? If you help free me, when we all leave this place I'll get it for you, all of it. I have contacts that will get it for me.
Miles: Yeah right. What you going to do? Write me a check on this banana leaf?

[Mother has brought Jacob to the cave of light]
Mother: Do you recognize this place?
Jacob: Yes,
Mother: Do you remember what I showed you here?
Jacob: The light.
Mother: You're going to protect it now.
Jacob: What's down there?
Mother: Life. Death. Rebirth. It's the source. The Heart of the Island. Just promise me that no matter what you do, you won't ever go down there.
Jacob: Would I die?
Mother: It would be worse than dying, Jacob. Much worse. [She pulls out a jug of wine and pours some into a cup. She whispers a Latin incantation over it] Here, drink this.
Jacob: What happens if I do?
Mother: You will accept the responsibility that you will protect this place for as long as you can. And then you'll have to find your replacement.
Jacob: I don't want to protect this place.
Mother: Someone has to.
Jacob: I don't care.
Mother: My time is over.
Jacob: Why, why is your time over?
Mother: It has to be you, Jacob!
Jacob: No it doesn't, you wanted it to be him [The Man in Black]! But now I'm all you have.
Mother: It was always supposed to be you, Jacob. I see that now. And one day you'll see it too. But until then, you don't really have a choice. Now please, take the cup and drink.
[Jacob drinks from the cup]
Mother: Now you and I are the same.
